Ever wonder why you still have a “fight or flight” response when it's been thousands of years since humans needed to outrun a lion, tiger, or bear for survival? You have inherited the genetic predisposition to survive in your environment. “Survival mode” is built into your genes and is how your ancestors lived long enough to keep the family line going.
There’s evidence showing that brain alterations from trauma can be passed on generationally through your gene expression. Luckily, the trauma that gets passed on by your ancestors can be overcome with conscious awareness.
You are capable of essentially “re-wiring” the brain by choosing to release negative patterns. The amount of power you have to transform your life by changing your thoughts is astounding!

There were probably traumatic events that happened to people in your ancestral line (violence, heartbreak, illness - the list goes on and on). Although there may be no way of finding out what specific events took place, you can still address and release the resulting negative pattern.

Not all of your emotional challenges stem from your ancestry. There are undoubtedly some negative behavioral patterns that originated from your personal experience. All negative patterns must be addressed because they create a barrier to happiness in your life. Taking responsibility for your own negative patterns is an act of love!
You can use the same “Reflect / Forgive / Release” exercise above to take responsibility for your own negative patterns and forgive yourself.
You are the one who has the power to set yourself (and future generations!) free from the patterns you have created. Practice makes perfect — so you may want to set aside a regular appointment time with yourself to reflect, forgive, and release! Over time, you will become more efficient at releasing.
