People travel from all over the world just to see The Great Sphinx. It is a wondrous sight to behold. What is perhaps even more intriguing, is the mysteries that lie beneath this sacred site…
In this installment of the Sacred Sites Blog Series, we will be traveling to ancient Egypt to explore the magnificent myths and legends surrounding The Great Sphinx. We’ll learn about the incredible architecture, the mysteries that may rest beneath it’s grand exterior including The Hall of Records, how you can connect to this site with the Lion’s Gate Portal, and the vibrational frequency reading Alejandro and I uncovered for this site.
Many of you have had past lives in ancient Egypt, so you may feel something special activate within you when you learn about this sacred site!
The Great Sphinx is the oldest known sculpture in Egypt, located on the Giza Plateau at the west bank of the Nile River near Cairo. Ancient Egyptians constructed it by hand out of a single piece of natural limestone, making it the largest single-stone statue in the world. It is 65 feet high and 240 feet long. It is located a short distance from The Great Pyramid.
It is believed that it took 3 years for about 100 people to carve out the Sphinx with hand tools like hammers and chisels. It is also believed to have been vibrantly painted when it was first created. Although there is much debate about who the face on the Sphinx represents, it is agreed it depicts a Pharaoh. In the gradios image of the Sphinx, the pharaoh was seen as a powerful god.
Most of the Sphinx is intact but the nose has been missing since the 15th century. Some people believe the nose was broken off by a cannonball fired by Napoleon Bonaparte’s soldiers during the French campaign in Egypt in 1798. However, that has not been proven and there are many other theories.
In between The Great Sphinx’s enormous paws, there is a stone slab known as the Dream Stele. It recounts a dream the 8th Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, Tuthmosis IV, had when he was a prince. He dreamt he slept in the shadow of the Sphinx during a hunting expedition in the desert. The Sphinx spoke to him in a dream, saying that he would become king if he cleared away the sand that had piled up around the Sphinx. When he became king, Tuthmosis IV cleared the sand and erected the Dream Stele. (1)
Who Built the Sphinx? In ancient legends, the Sphinx as an archetype was always the guardian of a gateway. This wise being would only allow entry if a riddle could be solved by the seeker. In our world, the riddle of “who built the Sphinx, and why?” has yet to be answered!
There is an ancient clue… The pharaoh Khafre has a pyramid that was built directly behind the Sphinx. Near the Sphinx is a raised path that still exists today called Khafre’s causeway. It winds from his pyramid to his tomb and swerves off of a traditional due-east path around the Sphinx, which suggests the Sphinx was there at that time (2465 bce).
There is also very little evidence to confirm whose face the sphinx is modeled after. However, there is a resemblance of the face to Khafre’s father, the powerful dictator Khufu. There is evidence to suggest Khufu’s son, Djedefre, was responsible for his burial, which puts him in the running for the mastermind behind constructing The Great Sphinx. His motivation would have been honoring his father with a grand gesture to try to legitimize his power after supposedly killing his older brother to claim the throne. (3) This limited evidence continues to be the subject of debate amongst historians.
The Orion Correlation Theory: I wanted to mention this theory because it’s basis is that The Great Sphinx is the earthly representation of the constellation Leo, the lion. In the 1980’s, researcher Robert Bauval made the observation that the construction of the Great Sphinx was a reference to the constellation of Leo, therefore the construction would have begun in 10,500 BC. He further suggested that the layout and orientation of the Sphinx, the Giza pyramid complex, and the Nile River are an accurate "map" of the constellations of Leo, Orion (specifically, Orion's Belt) and the Milky Way. Lion’s Gate Portal 8/8: You may already know that most of August, the sun is in the zodiac sign Leo. The cusp between the Leo and Virgo constellation points directly to the Sphinx. Every year on August 8th, what is known in astrology as The Lion’s Gate Portal opens up giving us all access to special intuitive downloads, key code activations, and Akashic Records.
This portal is the result of the astrological alignment of the royal stars Sirius and Orion, the Sun, and the ancient Giza pyramids. (2) This is a great time to connect to this sacred site! It is important to be fully in your heart to access these potent Lion’s Gate Portal downloads and embody a higher energetic frequency. I’m sharing a simple way you can do this at the end of the blog!
The Hall of Records: For many years, people have wondered what mysteries could lie beneath The Great Sphinx. There is a theory that deep underground, the Sphinx is guarding what is called The Hall of Records. Picture piles of documents, scrolls, and other record-keeping contents that ancient peoples may have wanted to hide so they didn’t get into the wrong hands.
Legend has it, the Hall of Records has information about the lost continent of Atlantis, contact with extraterrestrials, and Egyptian history - perhaps like how the pyramids were built. This hidden information could have significant effects on our understanding of world history.
The existence of an underground library was referenced by Herodotus, who said in Histories’, Book, II, 148:
“This I have actually seen, a work beyond words. For if anyone put together the buildings of the Greeks and display of their labors, they would seem lesser in both effort and expense to this labyrinth… Even the pyramids are beyond words, and each was equal to many and mighty works of the Greeks. Yet the labyrinth surpasses even the pyramids.” (2)
Between 1991 and 1993, an independent Egyptologist named John Anthony West conducted seismic and geological surveys around The Great Sphinx. Their findings indicated the landmark was carved 12,000 years ago - not 4,500, as is widely believed. They also discovered indications there are cavities in the bedrock beneath the Sphinx, including a large rectangular chamber 25 feet beneath Sphinx’s paws. Further investigation of these findings is said to have been blocked by the Egyptian government and mainstream archeologists. (4)
For more lore about The Hall of Records, we turn again to the stars. The magnificent star Regulus, symbolizing Archangel Raphael, is said to hold the key to The Hall of Records. (5) It is the brightest star in the Leo constellation - the lion’s heart.
This leads some to ponder whether the “key” is something more metaphorical and perhaps if we can truly center ourselves in our hearts - we can access The Hall of Records through the collective consciousness as an inner knowing. In this case, I recommend really focusing on heart connection through meditation and deep inner work leading up to the next Lion’s Gate Portal - then try accessing it!
The vibrational frequency of The Great Sphinx in 2352 BC was 400 - the level of reason. Today it is 200, the level of courage.
Like most sites we measure, the vibrational frequency at the location got lower over time due to human influence.
If you are interested in pursuing deeper spiritual connection to source and potentially working towards some serious intuitive downloads during the next Lion’s Gate Portal opening - it is important to be fully grounded in your body first. We have become so numb to our senses and being anchored to the senses is actually the key you need to unlock your intuitive abilities.
